Hot stuff

On Saturday night we rushed to the hospital with a very sick baby girl. She started uncharacteristically screaming earlier in the afternoon, and by 7:30 she spiked a 104 degree fever! Here she is sleeping it off in the ER. (That's a tiny IV in her left arm.)
After two days of bloodwork, urine cultures, X-rays, ultrasounds, and -- gulp -- a spinal tap, they narrowed the infection down to her bladder and left kidney. As you can see below, the docs and nurses (and drugs) eventually made her comfortable.
We're happy to report that we brought a smiling bambino home today. And thanks to some feelings of intense sympathy, fierce protectiveness, and complete selflessness, we've never felt more like parents or loved Caitlyn as much!

Poor, sweet girl. We are all so thankful she is home and feeling better. The love of a parent is overwhelming - you guys did great! We missed our playdate this week and hope that we can make it up next week!

Hi! So sorry to hear you had to go through this, I'm sure it was very scary. It's so hard when they're sick and they can't talk to you! It will get easier as she gets a little bigger. She is lucky to have such a loving momma and poppa! :)

I'm so sorry that you were sick Caitlyn, but glad to hear you're on the mend. My Mommy hates when I'm sick too, but we've never had to go to the hospital. How scary! Take care and get better!
