Our little trick-or-treaters each enjoyed Halloween in their own way last night.
For Pirate Nathan, it started as strip trick-or-treating. He forgot
about his sword before we left the house, and he ditched his eyepatch
(understandably) and bandana before we made it to the next-door
neighbors' house, and it took some convincing for him to leave his
shirt/vest on. But once he ran into his buddy Chloe, he was content and
focused on the task at hand -- ringing doorbells ("My turn!" he would
yell) and grabbing extra candy (He counted, "One, two, eight!").
But two 2-year-olds -- in costumes, no less -- moved much too slow for Good Witch Caitlyn, who literally ran from house to house. (She also ditched her hat, which apparently slowed her down.) So she stuck with pals closer to her own size. She was absolutely fearless and even dragged me (since her friends Brynn and Claire were too scared) through the Haunted Candy Lane in someone's backyard. (I screamed; she did not.) And after all of that running, she fell asleep in record time with zero stall tactics -- a treat for me and Gene!
