Anyone who knows Gene knows that he loves birthdays -- and not just his own. It looks like the Caitlyn apple didn't fall far from the tree because she could not get enough of his big day last week.
Besides wishing him "happy birthday!" about a 100 times (not an exaggeration) and opening up his gifts and blowing out his candles, she could not stop talking about "what a great birthday party" he had. In fact, the party (when Grandma came over and Gene/Caitlyn opened presents and the four of us ate ice cream cake) was the last thing she talked about before bed and the first thing the next morning.
We start training them young on the art of birthday celebrations. Here's Nathan decorating a birthday sign for his daddy. (Truth be told, his favorite part was trying to eat the crayons and then belly laughing at Mommy's reaction.)
