Somehow another summer passed us by – and, once again, without
blog documentation! Our summer routines leave a lot to post about but not a lot
of time to actually post ….
We kept with tradition and took our vacation at the shore,
this time with 19 family members in total. The highlight undoubtedly was the
addition of a new guest: Frankie Helen. We also enjoyed daily beach time, complete
with sand mountain building (thank you, Uncle Doug and Jeffrey) and sand crab
catching (Nathan and I dug for the crabs, then Caitlyn treated them as pets).
Summer just gets more and more fun as the kids get older.
This year, in addition to the requisite amusement park outings (we made it to
HersheyPark, Knoebels and Dutch
Wonderland), we saw a drive-in movie and camped out in the backyard. We hiked
and played mini golf. And we saw about a half dozen minor league baseball games
and mastered diving-board cannonballs (without a swim vest for Caitlyn!). We
also spent lots of time in our yard catching bugs (and even a tiny toad!) and digging
for worms (and stones) and taking laps around the driveway (for Nathan, on a
tricycle and a mini, battery-operated golf cart; for Caitlyn, on a scooter). It
really was a blast.
We also celebrated Nathan’s big third birthday at Grandma
and Pop’s pool with his closest cousins and his favorite neighborhood and
school friend, Chloe. (Nathan’s 3-year-old checkup found him at 35.5 lb./82
percentile and 38.5"/71 percentile -- "tall and healthy,"
according to the doctor.)
And since this post comes on Caitlyn’s first day of
kindergarten (pictures to come), it seems fitting that we show a few photos from
her pre-K graduation last June.
