Springing into summer

The weeks are flying by with one fun adventure after another. These kiddos are playing hard and sleeping well these days....

Gene's 40th birthday
The kids each picked a way to celebrate Gene's big day. Caitlyn chose to take him to a movie (the documentary Monkey Kingdom), and Nathan picked a train ride. Here's a shot from the Sundae Caboose (yes, it combined a train ride and ice cream -- what more could a 40-year-old ask for?) that ran from Middletown to Hummelstown and back.

Amusement park mania
Grandma and Pop gifted us with HersheyPark season passes for Christmas, and we've been getting their money's worth. Caitlyn is proving fearless and incapable of dizziness, so we've been checking our own fear of heights and trying to ignore our growing motion sickness to keep up with her. And Nathan is just one growth spurt away from unlocking the next level of rides (the big transition from Hershey Kiss to Peanut Butter Cup), so by the end of summer ... watch out, world. Here's a photo from Memorial Day, when Grandma and Pop (as well as a few pals) met up with us in Hershey.

We also made it to Dutch Wonderland to join the Mellman cousins. But at the rate these kids' fearlessness is growing, the smaller-scale amusement park probably won't keep their attention for many more years.

Vacation preview
The highlight of the season undoubtedly was a long weekend at the beach, where we joined Grandma and Pop to search for sand crabs, bury ourselves in the sand, dig in the sand and play catch. These kids were tireless! And they're definitely primed and ready to go back to the shore with the whole family in a few weeks.
