Disney fever

We overcame a case of strep throat (Nathan), complications from a routine medical procedure (Gene) and a first-ever bout of vertigo (Karen) in the days leading up to our trip and then a fever-and-stomach bug (Caitlyn) on our first day in Orlando. After that, it was smooth sailing – in 90 degree heat and bright sunshine every day!

Nathan was just tall (and fearless) enough to tag along on every ride, and Caitlyn requested that we move to Disney World. Highlights were Splash Mountain, Barnstormer, Thunder Mountain, Toy Story Mania … plus roaming Storm Troopers, afternoon ice cream breaks, the hotel pool/slide, and endless games of tag. The kids met dozens of characters and happily posed with each one as they signed their autograph books.

Some favorite moments:
  • Nathan demanding to play in the grass at Mickey’s Backyard Barbeque (thanks to a very literal interpretation of the event’s name)
  • Caitlyn – in pirate gear – being selected as first mate (just like two years ago!) during our Pirates and Pals fireworks cruise
